Lawrence J. Marks, Esq. practices in the areas of federal and state taxation, including ERISA and the tax aspects of pension matters and compensation planning; federal taxation, including individual income tax, corporate tax, partnership tax, QDRO preparation and non-qualified compensation arrangements; Connecticut sales and use tax, personal income tax, corporation business tax and real estate conveyance tax. He represents clients in civil and criminal matters involving both the Internal Revenue Service and the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. In addition, Mr. Marks counsels clients on entity formation issues, the buying and selling of businesses, and general corporate matters, and has an expertise in limited liability company law. Mr. Marks also practices in the area of municipal and public finance. He served as bond counsel to the State of Connecticut, The Metropolitan District, several local municipalities, and other public finance clients for the issuance of both tax-exempt and taxable bonds. This includes the analysis of bonds under the Internal Revenue Code to determine their taxability and consequences under the arbitrage rules. He has also served as borrower’s counsel in several low-income tax credit developments.

Mr. Marks is a graduate of Trinity College (B.A., with high honors in History, 1987), Phi Beta Kappa, and of New York University School of Law (J.D., 1990; LL.M., 1991). His previous employment includes Schatz & Schatz Ribicoff & Kotkin and Levy & Droney, P.C. Mr. Marks is the co-managing partner of the Firm.

Mr. Marks is a resident of South Windsor. He is admitted to the Connecticut bar and he is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
